Since commencing lessons with Kellie Grennan at the age of 6, Kinsey made remarkable progress and went on to study flute with Dr Alexa Still at the Sydney Conservatorium High School, during which time she passed her HSC music extension course with full marks. In 2009 Kinsey received the Blain Award from the Burwood Rotary Club assisting her to travel to the NFA Flute Convention in New York. She has been a regular prizewinner at the NSW Flute Society Eisteddfod since 2003, and in 2011 she was the winner of both the intermediate and open championships, and the open concerto section.
Kinsey's chamber group La Rosa Rojaattend participated in the Resonate Tango Festival in Sydney and Canberra and performed in several master classes with Ignacio Varchausky and Santiago Polimeni. Kinsey has participated in flute master classes and private lessons with internationally renowned flautists such as Michel Bellavance, Bridget Douglas, Stephen Preston, Bridget Bolliger and Greg Patillo. In 2016, Kinsey graduated from the Conservatorium of Sydney with a Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in flute performance.
Kinsey currently plays on a Lenny Lopatin flute with a Drelinger head joint.
